Wetsus, centre of excellence for sustainable water technology is a facilitating intermediary for trend-setting know how development. Wetsus creates a unique environment and strategic cooperation for development of profitable and sustainable state of the art water treatment technology. The inspiring and multidisciplinary collaboration between companies and research institutes in Wetsus results in innovations that contribute significantly to the solutions of the global water problems (www.wetsus.nl).

Wetsus Academy is a unique institute and was developed as a part of Wetsus. Its main focus is on Water Technology. The academy combines the joint responsibility of Wageningen University, University of Twente and University of Groningen. This program focuses on the development and design of all kind of water processes. The main added value of the course lies in the multidisciplinary use of biotechnology, chemical and electrochemical principles. Students are challenged with examples and case studies of real (research) problems that they might encounter as water professionals. Being a student at one of the involved universities, students will develop themselves into specialists in Water Technology with knowledge in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology.

Students can apply for master program at one of the involved universities and after successfully finishing the program, they receive MSc degree in Biotechnology or Chemical Engineering from the University of their choice.
 

Wetsus and Wetsus Academy are situated in Van Hall Institute in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands. Every student will receive a pas that allows them to use the library facilities, computers and also printers and copy machines.

Library

Most of the books and journals are available online and therefore students will acquire a password to access internet libraries online.

Housing

Most students live in one of the student houses, which consist of several rooms. All rooms contain basic furniture such as bed, desk and chair, and wardrobe.

Sports

All students can use the opportunity to apply for a sports card that is valid one year at the time. The basic sport pas allows you to join most of the sport facilities within Leeuwarden and also apply for various discounts (swimming, ice-skating, etc).

Living expenses

The minimum amount you will require for living expenses is around €800 a month. This includes housing (approx. €350), food, books and study materials. More information can be found on www.wetsusacademy.nl.

Admission requirements
  • A cumulative grade point average (GPA) – or cumulative average mark – for the Bachelors study which is at least 70% of the highest grade or mark achievable;
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken; standard level TOEFL 80 or IELTS 6.0.
