The International Education Fairs in Turkey are the only international study abroad fairs in the country supported officially by UED (The Assoc. of Int. Education Counsellors of Turkey) and its prestigious member agencies.
In spring 2012, the education fair received over 10,000 students in 5 cities and 6 days and secured over 135 institutions from Australia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Canada, China, Cyprus, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Malta, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Turkey, UK, USA and the United Arab Emirates. In addition to the international institutions, counseling agencies and the local and international sponsors, Austrade, British Council, Campus France, DAAD, Fulbright, Taipei Economic and Cultural Mission in ANKARA, US Embassy, US Consulate General Istanbul, UED exhibited at a2 Turkey Fairs.
Teenagers make up 30% of Turkey's population, two times higher than the EU average. In 2010, over 1.5 million students took the National University Placement Exam and only 327,869 students were placed in a four-year university in Turkey. Turkish students are looking to foreign institutions for admission.
Turkey is a quickly-developing country, with the youngest population ratio in Europe and a clear market for overseas education. Turkey has a long history of placing great value in education and the pursuit of lifelong learning. In the 2010-2011 academic year there were 26,911 international students attending Turkish educational institutions and universities. Each year sees approximately 1.65 million Turkish students compete for only 529,000 entrance positions in post secondary institution.
Taking place in Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir, the Turkey fair dates are at the most opportune time for both students and institutions, according to when students are seriously thinking about their next step in education.
