King's College London is one of the top 25 universities in the world (Times Higher Education 2009) and the fourth oldest in England. A research-led university based in the heart of London, King's has nearly 23,000 students (of whom more than 8,600 are graduate students) from nearly 140 countries, and some 5,500 employees.

The College offers an intellectually rigorous environment supported by welcoming and caring traditions. King’s has played a major role in many of the advances that have shaped modern life, such as the discovery of the structure of DNA. We are now the largest centre for the education of doctors, dentists and other healthcare professionals in Europe and home to six Medical Research Council centres.

King's occupies four historic Thames-side campuses in the heart of London, together with the King's Denmark Hill Campus in South London. The College uses its unique location to consolidate the partnerships which it has forged over nearly two hundred years with many cultural, professional and political institutions in the capital. Our strength in law, humanities and the social sciences make us a major player in forging links between the arts, culture and universities, and in the development of public policy at national level.

Our very broad range of subjects, including also physical sciences and engineering, are increasingly inter-related, notably in fields such as bioinformatics, health policy and medical humanities.

King’s nine Schools of Study are Arts & Humanities; Biomedical & Health Sciences; the Dental Institute; Law; Medicine; the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing & Midwifery; Physical Sciences & Engineering; the Institute of Psychiatry, and Social Science & Public Policy.

The College's location means students are in an enviable position for accessing opportunities for work experience. King’s is a target university for major employers.

King’s College London is proud to have strategic partnerships with leading, like-minded institutions across the globe. We work closely with Jawaharlal Nehru University in India, the National University of Singapore, the University of Hong Kong and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of Sao Paulo and Humboldt University as well as a number of other prestigious universities in Asia, Australasia, the Americas and Europe.

King’s has established a range of research facilities across the College to serve all King’s scientists and to provide access to essential technology and equipment.

King’s is also host to one of the 33 drug testing laboratories accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency and is one of the drug testing centres for the Olympic Games in 2012.

Libraries and Information services are situated across all campuses, provide access to multi-disciplinary print and electronic information resources and local IT services.

The collection encompasses over two million books and thousands of journals. It also includes theses, dissertations, reference tools, official publications, research reports, statistical data, maps, music scores, audio and video tapes, records, CDs, DVDs, photographs, manuscripts and microforms.

King's offers a range of accommodation to suit the varied needs of students. Most first-year students live in College residences or the University of London’s Intercollegiate residences whilst others live in shared student houses or rented flats.

King’s has a range of sporting facilities, including four sports grounds close to central London and King's College London Students' Union (KCLSU) has strong links with other University of London teams.

KCLSU provides a wide range of social activities at all campuses and there are numerous clubs and societies to suit all tastes.
